Transco has a rich history of innovation. Many of the solutions engineered for our customers are now the industry standard. Each new project brings unique challenges to the Transco team. Each challenge brings opportunity for innovation.
Thermal insulation
Beginning in 1936, Transco supplied thermal insulation systems to an extensive number of power generating plants. At the advent of commercial nuclear power, we developed Metal Reflective Insulation (MRI) systems to address safety and removability requirements for in-service inspections. Today Transco is the sole designer and manufacturer of MRI in the U.S.
In response to industry needs, Transco developed the THERMAL-WRAP® blanket insulation system in the 1980's to add to its complement of nuclear-grade thermal insulation systems.
Passive Fire Protection
The 1975 fire at a U.S. nuclear power station brought new safety concerns to the nuclear power industry. Again Transco was there with a wide range of fire protection products and services from penetration seals against fire, radiation, pressure and water, to raceway fire barriers.
In 1997, Transco introduced VERSA-WRAP®, a lightweight, economical fire barrier system engineered for use on conduits, cables and electrical raceways. It was designed for the demands of nuclear power plants, utility and gas pipeline facilities, and surpasses the NRC 86-10 requirements for one and three hour protection.
Specialized Fabrication
Transco also offers specialized design and fabrication services. We design and fabricate such products as shielded metal reflective insulation (SMRI) and ECCS sump strainers.
